VERGE is a locally and independently owned newspaper – well, actually a cross between a newspaper and a magazine. A true grassroots effort, VERGE delivers positive news about the events, people, places and opportunities that make up our community – the greater CSRA. VERGE strives to enlighten and uplift while providing readers opportunities to become more involved in their community. Focusing on the heartbeat of our community, VERGE concentrates on exposing the positive aspects of downtown Augusta, while reaching out into the other smaller communities that make up the CSRA – Columbia County, Aiken, North Augusta and, yes, the rest of Augusta.

VERGE is powered by a group of freelance writers, designers and photographers, who provide original content to entertain, inform and inspire our readers.

What do we stand for? VERGE stands for community – local community. VERGE encourages readers to get more active in the process of community building – by indentifying what community means, what it stands for and how it works, all while getting more involved ourselves in that process.

VERGE devotes itself to this vision and to the healthy growth of our community, knowing that alone or individually, it cannot be done; but, collectively, amazing events can happen. We are proponents of a unified movement with a common goal of respect, understanding, and vision.

What have we accomplished? VERGE began publishing on March 5, 2008. From the very first issue our goal has been, and will continue to be, a challenge the citizens of Augusta and the entire CSRA to become more acquainted and active with what’s going on right here in our own back yard – Augusta.

Where do we have yet to accomplish? We look to the future for our growth and the past for guidance. If we continue to dwell on, as a community, and affix ourselves on the past, we will lose out on tomorrow. More importantly, we might miss the opportunity of today.

To better serve our community and continue our vision, VERGE will begin publishing twice a month beginning in October 2010.
